How confident are you that the food you're eating is free from growth hormones?

Even as we strive to make the healthiest choices—eating well, exercising, and avoiding processed foods—there's one thing that might be sneaking into our diets without us knowing: growth hormones, particularly those found in meat.

Although Thailand has banned growth hormones many years ago, many people still worry that there are hidden dangers.

Does the law actually cover every type of hormones? What about similar hormones with slightly different properties? And can we really be sure that the meat we are eating is "free" of all growth hormones?

Thailand has only Banned a Specific Type of Hormone

Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health order no. 417/2529 prohibits the use of Hexoestrol in animal farming.

Hexoestrol is a synthetic estrogen-based hormone used to accelerate the growth of animals like chickens and pigs. And it was also used for chemical castration in male animals.

When this substance accumulates in the human body, especially in women, it can affect the reproductive system, potentially leading to:

  • Irregular menstrual cycles

  • Impaired ovarian function

  • Increased risk of infertility

  • Higher risk of reproductive system cancers

This order only bans Hexoestrol. Other types of growth promoters remain unregulated.

"No Hormones" Doesn't Mean Nothing Is Added

In the chicken industry, many brands claim to be "hormone-free." This claim, however, is only partially true.

What's often overlooked is:

  • The absence of Hexoestrol doesn't mean other hormones aren't present.

  • The use of other "growth promoters" that aren't classified as hormones is common, such as low-dose antibiotics. (Read more at the article, "Chickens and Antibiotics.")

  • Some farms in Thailand still use certain growth promoters for pigs.

  • In the United States, hormones used to accelerate cattle growth is legally permitted.

Most importantly, it's nearly impossible for the average consumer to verify whether a product is truly "hormone-free." The term "no hormones" has become a marketing claim. Third-partying testing is limited.

When Your Body is in "Overdrive" Without Your Knowledge

While growth hormones can make animals grow faster, they can also accelerate abnormal changes in our own bodies without us realizing it.

The long-term effects of growth promoters on the human body can include:

  • Overall hormonal imbalances, such as fluctuating sex hormones.

  • Early onset of puberty in children.

  • Increased risk of reproductive system diseases, such as cysts or breast cancer.

  • Chronic inflammation due to metabolic system imbalances.

  • Accumulated stress on the digestive and intestinal systems.

These chemicals accumulate in our body as we consume unhealthy meats every day.

Farm Daddeaw: Raising for Health, Not Speed

At Farm Daddeaw, we raise our chickens with natural principles, not laboratory protocols.

That's why we choose to raise our chickens without any stimulants, including those not yet banned in Thailand. We don't believe in shortcuts because we know there are no shortcuts to true health.

Our approach is simple:

  • No growth hormones of any kind.

  • No antibiotics for growth promoters.

  • No other growth promoters, whether they are regulated or not.

Our chickens are raised in a NOMAD Pasture-Raised system, where they are moved to a fresh pasture every day to live as naturally as possible. This allows them to:

  • Walk, forage for insects, and peck at fresh grass.

  • Hygienic and clean bedding, away from their own manure.

  • Live in an environment that naturally minimizes disease risk.

A Flavor that Reflects Health

Chickens that grow slowly and healthily on their own have a different meat quality compared to those from industrial systems:

  • Firm yet tender meat: Their muscles are well-developed, but not tough and stringy.

  • Golden fat: This comes from the beta-carotene in fresh grass, not from artificial coloring.

  • Natural aroma: No need for strong seasoning.

  • Deeper flavor: The chickens eat a diverse, natural diet, not just processed feed.

  • Higher nutrition: They receive vitamins, minerals, and amino acids from the pastures.

At Farm Daddeaw, we raise our chickens with time, care, and dedication so you can be confident that what you eat won't harm you in the future.

It's Time to Choose the Good Stuff

The phrase "no hormones" on a label does not cover their entire picture. We need sincerity and transparency in the whole farming process.

Farm Daddeaw is here to raise the juiciest and most nutrient-dense meats! We care for our chickens the same way you care for your own family.
